iPhone 7 WiFi grayed out

Hi guys, I have an iPhone 7 here, WiFi grayed out. Upon testing, I confirm the WiFi chip has problem and needs to be reballed. What I am not sure is the NAND chip. I know WiFi IC is bound to the NAND, so if the WiFi chip is to be replaced with a new one, then NAND must be removed and reprogrammed to unbind the the Mac address. However, I am not going to replace the WiFi chip with a new one, I just want to reball it. In such case, do I still need to remove the NAND chip and reprogram it? I checked on youtube, some repairers just reballed the WiFi chip and didn’t touch the NAND, however, some reballed both of them even they didn’t change the WiFi chip. So I am a bit confused. Do I need to remove/reprogram the NAND even I don’t replace the WiFi chip?

Can you tell me where this WiFi chip is, I have two iPhone 7’s one when just powered up has WiFi greyed out for about two minutes then was working again, however my mother’s old iPhone 7 has it greyed our completely when I tried to previously repair it( all the phones I try to fix on my own don’t have a working selfie cam or speaker near it) when we took it in , they said some screws were missing and I nicked a cable. Can you show me where this chip is ? My email is fegelein3290@gmail.com, my phone is (501) 303-7933

The WiFi chip is on top of the reverse side of the logic board. But don’t attempt to repair it, this is not a simple DIY job. Can only be done by an experienced professional. If you are not a professional, attempting to repair it will only ruin the phone. @fegelein3290

No need to reprogram anything if you’re just removing and reballing, that would be needed if you replace the Wifi IC to update the Nand info. Don’t bother too much about youtube videos, unless they’re from the few good and instructive Professionals around we all more or less know about for years, there’s a lot of BS out there.

Thanks Arbaman, very helpful information! By the way, the one on YouTube who reballed both WiFi and NAND even he didn’t change the WiFi IC is a very professional guy. I don’t understand why he had to waste time on the NAND.
