The iMac will turn on and the screen lights up after 5 seconds, it then power cycles off and then you hear the chime as normal screen lights up and powers off again after 5 seconds, keeps doing that repeatedly.

With everything connected try running diagnostics. restart your system and holding the D key. Let us know what you get for an error message.

Yeah it won't stay on long enough to perform diagnostics. It turns off after 10 seconds or so.

New power supply time and a surge suppressor or better yet a UPS!
