Old thread, but thought I’d share my fix.
Just had this issue with my boyfriend’s ipad pro. This type of error is so frustrating and could be one of several internal issues, unfortunately.
But, what ended up working for me was heavily tapping the entire screen surface (methodically and with care) and then massaging from bottom to top a few times. After that, I held the power and home button until I finally had the apple logo appear (waited the normal 8/10 seconds).
1) If that works, I also heavily recommend checking how your device backup is set up, make sure you’re happy with it, and then power cycle the ipad. This will just confirm the device is working properly, and that any remaining errors are corrected
2) Also assuming that worked; you either just had a case of the device freezing up (yay! you just saved a couple 100 bucks), or you have a short somewhere in the ipad. Apple and hardware issues don’t mix very well, and I would stay prepared for the problem to appear again. If you’re in any way dependent on the device, I’d recommend beginning to look for a replacement/failsafe.

Same thing happened to my daughters, 3 years old and she only used it for homework & netflix so not heavy use. Took it to the genius bar and was told it would be £429 to repair so advised me to buy new ipad instead.
Gutted as I bought this expecting it to last a minimum of 5 years for the price and to only get 3 years light use feels like I've been robbed. Will definitely think twice before buying another ipad now

Just replaced the battery witj one supplied by Ifixit on the same model. Charge current is shown as 0.46A, but up to now no luck.
What now? Charge connector module or battery charge circuitry on the motherboard?

I bought my iPad Pro a 17 oh one brand new. And the battery and charge system work fine on it for around two years. I believe it was just upgraded to 14 or 15 at the time. And then it just wouldn’t charge anymore. I think there was a bug in the upgrade because it happened to a lot of other people too. I had to reset a whole lot of passwords and it was a real pain.
