Mine is broken too, how do remove it from the imac chasis? Just pull it off gently ?

Follow this guide Changement écran iMac Intel 21,5" écran Retina 4K (2017) to get the display off and then peel it off the case.
Most of the time people forget the needed gap in the adhesive tape you need to create before applying it! So its not the mic that's messed up, its just the needed hole is blocked! From the displays tape.
I'm quite sure I've done something harmful to the cable or connector or the microphone itself
I did 2 errors (I guess)
1) I removed the connector without opening the latch
2) when I was remounting the logic board I discovered that I had pushed the the microphone flat cable under the chassis and under the board
I removed it again and secured the flat this time outside with some tape
now the systems sees a microphone connected
but there is no input: is dead
I reopend to retest the connection/connector, and reseat but not working...

Is it possible to use an Apple laptop mic instead, i would like an integrated solution as much as possible
Found a use 2017 microphone on ebay but no clue if something is wrong with my connector?
Also tried with a 21 inches 2017 microphone brand new and no luck, my mistake was that i forgot to open the latch before pulling when removing the logic board the 1st time :(
No you don't have a cable issue, you damaged your logic board! Some how you pulled off one of the SMT devices just to the bottom right corner. Do you see the two silver pads something was mounted there.
I don't have a schematic or boardview for this model right now so I can't tell you what it was. I'll need to hunt one down if I can.
Dan - I realize this is an old post, but did you ever find that schematic for the SMT device that got knocked off the board? I have the same problem and assuming that is a resistor but not sure.
