No picture but there is sound.
My LG47LA20V is getting sound but no picture, when I turn the tv on I get the LG logo for a split second then the screen is black but you can faintly make out the picture when you go up close. When I turn the tv off you see the full bright picture for a split second also. I’ve read this could be a backlight issue. If it’s a backlight issue how come when you turn the tv off you see what every channel is on for a split second?

Check for capacitor leaks. Makes sense that it shows for a split second.

First a good google search

1. Get a good screw driver kit (may be from ifixit - I am not an employee just a hobbyist...
2. Make photos of your TV
3. Read some of the teardown or disassembly of TV either here or in youtube.
4. It does not matter what brand - but you will get feeling for what to notice.
5. slowly unscrew everything -document clearly
6. Post photos of TV cirucits here. or may be you see a swollen capacitor
7. Whenever you come across a new term, just put in google or youtube.
