Options

Surface only works when plugged in after battery replacement?

I did a full housing, screen, battery replacement for a Surface Pro 5

It turns on only when plugged in tried 2 batteries now still the same issue.

I tried force restarting it and doing a driver update still not working

My next thing to try would be desoldering circuit board off OEM battery and soldering it to After-market not sure if the risk of lighting the battery on fire is worth it.

Any Ideas?

Factory Reset the device with new battery fixed the issue!

Hey Mark,

A bit of a digress but - could you provide any help on replacing the battery for the surface pro 5 ? Have looked online but can’t find a resource. I am considering following the surface pro 4 tutorial on this website, but I’d like to hear how you have tackled it first.

My boss and I think you may have to remove the daughter board off the old battery to the new it must be programmed to the motherboard. We gave up on the repair requires soldering near the battery. It could as well just be a bad motherboard not sure.
