I have noticed on my Thunderbolt Display today a blur over the screen when in use that is visible as a grey cloud when the screen is black. I’ve never seen this issue before and live in an area that isn't humid in any particular way.

I think you have a simple problem! Basically dust or dirt has collected on the backside of the cover glass and/or the display its self.

Follow this guide to pull off the cover glass, use a dry micro cloth dust off the inside surface, then using some window cleaner and a fresh micro cloth spray the cloth and wipe down the cover glass surfaces. The LCD display should just be dusted as it has coatings on it the cleaner will either damage or just make a mess and/or streaks!

Here’s the guide you’ll need to follow Remplacement du LCD du Apple Thunderbolt Display following Step 1

Hey Dan, I dont expect this is the problem given that the haze has disappeared overnight.

Thats the moisture in the air collecting on the dust! You should look at getting a de-humidifier to dry out the room.

@danj Did this work? My monitor developed the same exact problem today. It has been raining a lot and the temp dropped quickly today. I ran the monitor for quite a while while working out and it was near raining out.

@Charles Soechting - I would follow the steps I outlined as well as get a dehumidifier. The dusty surfaces will collect the moisture. Think how snow crystals are formed they form around a partial of dust. This in some ways is not any different. While you can still collect moisture on a clean cold mirror the dust just amplify’s the effect.
