My PS2 shows corrupted images

Hey gang I’m wondering if there is a fix for this. I’ll add pictures to help explain what is happening.

I was playing DDR on my old fat PS2 when suddenly the images started corrupting as seen in the picture above. I restarted my PS2 and the start menu started doing the same thing slightly at the bottom of the screen (without the disk). Is this fixable or is my PS2 dying for good?


I have done the following troubleshooting:

  • Checked the cables that connect to the TV (the color coded ones sorry I don’t know their name) to ensure they were put in properly. I disconnected the cables and switched them out for my PS1 cables (to check and see if the problem was the cables) and it did the same thing.
  • I disconnected/reconnected my PS2 and it continued to do the same thing.

* I opened up my PS2 and carefully cleaned all the dust from the inside of the PS2 and reclosed it. It continued to do the same thing.

  • I took the game out and put in a new game and it continued to do the same thing.
  • :( Help please?

Have you checked the memory cards? If THEY are not corrupt, then indeed your system is probably dying.
