iPhoneXR died when I plugged into an ebike battery -- ideas?

The ebike battery has a USB charging port. I plugged in, there was instant screen darkness. The cable also seems to no-longer be working.

I tried a hard reset, and charging for sometime — no signs of life.

I’m into fixing it, but I don’t know where to start and not sure how fatal the disease was…

The ebike battery is a big 52v battery. I’m guessing that there was something wrong with that USB outlet… and it sent a big blast of energy into the phone.

What would that destroy? everything? just the battery? next steps?

Please and thanks for any ideas.

You probably destroyed the tristar ic and possibly more. It's the chip that controls charging and data transfer. It usually fails from using an aftermarket charging cable that is not MFI Certified and causes voltage spikes and this sounds like a massive voltage spike. You will need to take it to a repair shop that does microsoldering repair. If you don't have someone local you can mail it in. I would recommend jessa at ipad rehab ipadrehab.com or Jason at sts telecom ststelecom.com. both are excellent and you can call and explain your issues. Both are on the east coast.
