iPhone8 plus no service problem solved

Block Image

Hello I’m hoping someone can help with this issue. I recently swapped everything from one 8 plus housing to another and now it’s showing full service bars in some areas but won’t actually let me use the internet or send and receive messages. My home is one of the areas it does this in but it worked just fine before. It works fine in areas with great service but not in others where the service isn’t so great and it worked in those places without great service before the swap. I’ve already checked and also changed the gsm antenna so I don’t think it could be that. I reset the network settings and rebooted the phone. I did find this tiny metal contact and I’m not sure if i overlooked it while taking the phone apart or if it came out of my screw container while looking for screws but it was sitting on my work table near other parts for the phone. I don’t have another phone to compare it to at the moment so if anyone knows what this is for please let me know. I added a photo of the tiny contact. I didn’t restore it on iTunes or do the dfu process because I didn’t think it should be necessary or would even help but could that possibly help? Can someone please help point me in the right direction. I don’t know close to half as much as some of you guys on here but I’ve done this many times with no issues at all on many different models so I’m puzzled. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the input but I have it working perfectly fine now. I know I’m answering my own question but It was a faulty charger port and I thought it might help someone else in the future so I decided to go ahead and post this. The new housing came with a charger port preinstalled and obviously it was defective. Up until last night I didn’t realize that there was an antenna built into it. I know the cellular antenna connects to it but I thought that was the whole antenna. That is definitely not the case unless the contact was bad because now this phone has full service and works exactly how it should after this repair. I figured the charger port, microphones, loud speaker contacts, Taptic Engine connection flex was my only other option at the time. Wow they crammed a lot of stuff in there! Am I missing anything???

So I transferred the original charger port into the new housing and…….

BINGO IT WORKS!!!!

I also want to add that this forum has helped me out every time I asked a question whether I got the answer here or not I always got ideas and it gave me incentive to keep trying when I saw that people are willing to help. I appreciate you guys out there sharing the knowledge that you posses. That really is a blessing and a huge help. I can’t wait until I can afford the proper training and equipment to learn micro soldering and learn how to read all the schematics and also troubleshoot and diagnose these things on a whole different level. Keep up the good work everyone and thanks again. Your time and input is much appreciated

Have a great day!!

Did you make sure you put all of the screws back in. All of the ground screws especially on the antennas.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I made sure to put all the screws in and made sure they were secure. I definitely didn’t have any left over when I was done but there is this one little metal contact that I found on my table. I’m not sure if it came from this phone and I didn’t notice when it fell out or if it’s from my screw container. I don’t have another phone at the moment to compare it to and I don’t remember seeing it in other phones or in this phone. I posted a photo of the metal contact. Any ideas?? Thanks again
