JBL wont't turn on and takes no charge after failed to update firmware

Hi Guys!

So, I have this JBL Flip 4. I opened on the phone the Jbl app, and it showed to update from 3.2 to 4.0 firmware. I agreed, then it showed to plug the device into a charger. I didn’t agreed that, then I made a phone call. After that I plugged the JBL in and agreed the firmware update. So after that the app showed it can not update it. I restarted the app and cleared cache 2 times, and waiting for the firmware update pop-up, it didn’t showed up again, after that I factory reseted the JBL by pressing the shown buttons for 10 seconds. After that the JBL won’t turn on and even it was not able to charge up. I tried to plug it in PC USB too. Notice:I put the JBL on charger after making the phone call and it was charging during the reset. I don’t think this device can be fixed without opening it, but I rly don’t want to lose its waterproofness.

The battery is fine I think, it charged up to 3 LED out of 5, maybe something with the logic board. I tried all the button combinations and it doesn’t show anything.

The question is:

  1. Can I fix it by not dismantling it ?

# Can I fix it by dismantling it ? (The waterproofness is not a problem then anymore)

# How could I fix it, if I can or trow out the logic board

# Or can I find a reset button on the logic board ?

Thanks all of you guys and please ignore the why you did that answers/questions.

I just try to make sure if I can fix it or I need to throw it out. Yep, the warranty is expired half a year ago if you ask.

I experienced the same problem after firmware update for my JBL charge 3. Has anyone figured how to fix this problem. My JBL charge does not not charge or turn on at this point.

Same thing happened to my JBL charge 3. Was working great, updated the software with the JBL connect app...update finished. Speaker never turned on after that. No lights showing when plugged in either:(

If your JBL Flip 4 speaker refuses to turn on, see the JBL Flip 4 Won’t Turn On problem page for possible causes and solutions.

If your JBL Flip 4 speaker will not charge or won’t hold a charge, see the JBL Flip 4 Will Not Charge Or Won’t Hold a Charge problem page for possible causes and solutions.

Try:

Connect the power source.

Then long press together: JBL Connect + Volume up.

I have not tried it, but some sources say it is for exiting firmware update mode. So, no high hopes, but it's worth a try.

Either way, I would say not to throw it away. At least here, in Romania, you can buy second-hand parts for it, like logic board, or sell your unit for parts. Maybe also in your country.

This problem too. Updated firmware and after that, not able to power on or charge.

Hi, Thank you guys for the answers! We disassembled it and it was all glued together, pins too and charging pin port too, cuz we returned under warranty and they relaced the battery like this.. So we disassembled, pulled out and in the ports and then we took down the glue on the charging pin port, and it’s fine. It works, thank you guys for helping!

Hi, I experiance the same problem but with JBL Boombox2. After updating software the speaker went dead. Please help

Just did the software update on the JBL portable app on my borrowed JBL Pulse 4, but then it won't turn on anymore. I just borrowed it. 😭😭😭 Pls help, I broke it accidentally because of their app 😭

Salut! Ultimul update pt Boombox 3 mi l a omorat. In timpul update ului, s a închis singur Boomboxul și așa a rămas până în ziua de azi. Am incercat toate combinațiile de butoane, nimic. Apasă butonul de power on și da doar un flash, după care se stinge iar. Fără sunetele de pornire. Ce as putea sa i fac?
