My IFixit replacement battery is not recognized, even after SMC reset

I recently installed an iFixit battery in my mid2009 MacBookPro 13” unibody. The battery worked fine for a while, but now the laptop cannot draw from battery power at all.

I tried resetting SMC and PVRAM, but the laptop still shuts down hard when the power cable is pulled. System report for Power shows:

Charge info:

  • charge remaining (mAh): 5000
  • fully charged: yes
  • charging: no
  • full charge capacity: 5000
  • health info:
  • cycle count: 27
  • condition: replace now
  • batt installed: yes
  • amperage: 0
  • voltage: 7000

How do I get this battery working again?

The battery its self appears to be OK, At this point I’m thinking your systems SMC logic (power control) has a problem. Most of the time when I see this the MagSafe charger being used is a knockoff which damages things.

Here’s the needed REAL MagSafe charger Apple 60W MagSafe Power Adapter (for MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro)

Don’t buy the ones listed on Amazon or eBay they are not real chargers!

Sadly you’ll need to find someone with the needed skills to fix your logic board.
