Audio output only on one side

My Google Pixel audio balance is set right in the middle but there’s only sound in the left earbud. This is true for bluetooth earbuds and wired earbuds, playing content from various apps. I thought my right bluetooth earbud had suddenly gone bad so bought another pair, but same issue . Any ideas?

So what happens when you set balance only to the right? no sound at all?

Changing the balance only to the right is the same volume on the left as having it all the way to the left. In the middle, it's loudest on the left.

Google help desk had me take the phone out of the case which oddly made the right earbud work on wired headphones, but the right is still not working on bluetooth. They told me to use the nuclear option, factory reset. Ugh.

I contacted Google support and they had me try the steps below, but the problem persists.

Please follow the below steps to resolve the issue

Step 1: Turn on Safe Mode & fix apps

Some apps that you download can cause issues with your phone. This can include audio apps and apps that run audio accessories.

Step 2: Turn off Switch Access

While in Safe Mode, turn your volume all the way up. If your volume buttons don’t work, open your Settings app and tap Accessibility. If Switch Access is on, turn it off.

Step 3: Reset to factory settings

Important: If you can, back up first. Any data that’s not backed up to your Google Account or another service will be lost.

For someone searching in the future, after a ton of searching the internet and my phone's settings, I found my solution in settings, accessibility, audio adjustment. I'm guessing one of the toddlers was having fun with my phone.

Hello, Cynthia, I am an electronic engineer, and have a degree in Computer Science, and i see this issue occasionally, and it very possibly could be in the jack itself, and can be repaired, however this entails taking your phone apart, and putting it back together. Also there could be corrupted settings in the phone’s software, and a passive dart to throw, if you didn’t mind losing all your data which could be countered by taking a backup of your data, would be wiping the phone, then restoring the backup

Thanks, Ryder. I already did a PITA factory reset but that didn't change anything. Would a bad headphone jack have an effect on earbud connected via bluetooth?

I unpaired my earbuds, reset the earbuds themselves and repaired the ear buds, then paired them to the phone. Maybe I was too quick and didn't give them enough time to pair properly because I had to repeat the steps, but clearing them off the phone, doing a reset on the earbuds themselves and then repairing them to the phone worked after two tries. Must be something about the Google phone that does it, but the fix is in the earbuds themselves for mine.
