Anyway to bypass the power button on A1932?

Hi guys,

Working on a liquid damaged macbook air 2018 13”. Daughter/audio board has been marks on it and it looks like that is where the power button presses, but I wanted to see if we could turn the machine on with just the main logic board.

Is there a power button bypass on these models / or power on pads? Thanks!

Liquid damage isn’t a very practical repair but I suppose you could try a daughter board with accompanying button. Although you can replace the button it would lose touch ID

Thanks! We did end up ordering that daughter board and the computer is turning on but looks like there are other problems. So touch ID relies on the daughter board itself? Any way to reprogram it or do they have to go to apple?

@repairk unfortunately apple is the only one that has the tools capable of reprogramming biometric verification to its devices such as TouchID and FaceID. And knowing apple, they'll deny service because you weren't "blessed" by apple to fix it. That finger print sensor is tied to that specific T2 security chip.

That's what i feared, well thanks for the info. Just to clarify, there's no other manual turn on that can be done here? Possibly shorting two points together on the board, etc? I'd like to also know for future repairs :) Thanks!

Sadly this series uses TouchID so you won't be able to access your data as its encrypted! Here's what would be required MacBook Air 13” Retina Display Late 2018 Touch ID Sensor Replacement

Hi Dan,

The touch ID sensor seems to be in tact. We just replaced the board underneath which was damaged heavily during the spill.
