I’ve got a late 2013 iMac which was ordered with a small SSD instead of the HDD or Fusion drive. I want to install a 2TB 2.5” SSD, but not sure what to expect when I open it up. Will it have any of the following inside?

I would start off getting this kit iMac Intel 27" (Late 2012-2019) SSD Upgrade Kit Then you only need the logic board SATA cable 27” iMac SATA Hard Drive Combo Cable, Apple P/N 923-0312
Here’s the guide to putting it in Remplacement du disque dur de l'iMac Intel 27" EMC 2639 You will still need to lift the logic board forward so you can get behind it to clip the SATA & Power cable ends in. Plug in the adapter sensor cable and then into your new drive and re-assemble jumping back to Step 33 in the iMac Intel 27" EMC 2639 Hard Drive Replacement guide.

Thanks Dan, that’s really helpful. It’s as I feared, I’ll have to do the near-complete teardown. I have all of those parts, only I'm missing the little pins to secure the drive enclosure to the right and left brackets. Might have to improvise because tomorrow's the repair day.
@MacMike47 - Make sure you use the pizza cutter and don't pry deeply as you can damage the display.
Okay, it's mostly good news:
I replaced the power supply (that was the main issue, where it kept randomly shutting down), installed the hard drive enclosure with my SSD, with the new SATA cable and an OWC thermal sensor cable. At that stage, I did a test boot, but the SSD wasn't showing up. So I swung the lid open again and tried plugging the SATA cable directly into the HD enclosure (ie without the thermal sensor cable). Sure enough, it then worked a treat!
So my question is: Given this machine was BTO with a PCIe flash drive only and no hard drive at all, does it even need a thermal sensor? Surely the computer doesn't need to know the drive's temperature because it doesn't know there's anything there... Or is that just me being hopeful? Or is it a faulty sensor cable? In any case, I've had the iMac on now for 30 mins without any excessive fan noise.
The amount of dust in there was horrific, so getting most of that out must help with cooling.
So Apples direction of sealing the computer up so tight was a good thing? Not! Unless you have a dust & debris clean room you need to clean out the system! So crack it open in a year or so to give it a clean
As far as the sensor Apple did alter the systems firmware so Mojave and newer altered things up. so the sensor is not needed. If you are running a newer macOS you should be OK. How about installing a good thermal monitoring app like TG Pro to keep an eye on things.
Great idea re TG Pro, thanks. Yes, I'm running Mojave so all good there. I inherited this machine from someone in a very dusty office, so it should be good to go in my relatively clean flat for a few more years.
Who knows, maybe the super efficient ARM iMac will be completely sealed and dust-proof.
