Replaced the battery but the WIFI card isn't being detected anymore

Wondering if you guys might be able to help me solve a issue where we removed and replaced the battery and now the WIFI card stopped working. I can’t remove the WIFI card as it is soldered to the motherboard. Only parts I removed was the IO board cable and the battery to remove and install the new laptop battery.

Any ideas? Windows does not detect the hardware since the battery was removed.

Update (09/14/2020)

Manage to fix it. Not sure how. I took out the cover and IO board cable again and reinstalled it. Seem to fix it.

Hi,

Get into BIOS and check:

BIOS > General System Information > Device Information and check if WiFi device is shown as detected

BIOS > System Setup >Wireless menu > Wireless Device enable to check if it is enabled.

Here’s the service manual for the laptop which may help. It details how to get into BIOS and what all the settings mean.

I will be checking on it today to see if it in the BIOS. unable to do this remotely. Just want some other insight as to what to do at this point.

Being a bit pedantic the WiFi adapter is mounted on the I/O board and not the motherboard. See p.30 of the service manual I linked above. It mentions the disconnection of the antenna cables from the I/O board.

Also here's a video that shows how to remove the I/O board from the laptop. At 1:30 minutes into the video the antenna cables can be seen being disconnected from the I/O board.

Here's a link to a supplier of the part. It is only to show where the WiFi adapter is located on the I/O board.

Only mention this because IF the BIOS doesn't show the WiFi adapter then the adapter is either faulty or perhaps it is a faulty cable connection to the I/O board from the motherboard. Looking at the video the battery has to be removed to remove the I/O board so perhaps when removing the battery the cable connection between the motherboard and the I/O board was disturbed.

If it is faulty then search for Dell YH2H0 to find suppliers that suit you.
