No sound, even when I cleaned the jack.

Hi everyone.

Problem: no sound.

I opened the game boy, cleaned it… isopropyl alcohol… still nothing… ok.

I checked the jack: corroded. Here too, isopropyl.

Still nothing.

So i took a thin screwdriver and put the head as a bridge between the connectors. And i got 1 second of sound.

But when i took out the screwdriver… again, no sound.

But now i know my speaker works.

I can't do the screwdriver trick again. I tried. A lot.

I guess i must have ruined a connector or something.

So i wanted to buy another one online. Impossible to find.

I took out the jack port. Unsoldered it. Cleaned it a lot.

Resoldered it… still nothing. But the headphones still work.

I am at a loss. Can someone help?

Thanks!

Update: as i was frustrated, I cut a bit of the black plastic in the jack connector, to have a closer look inside. It looks clean enough. I plugged my headphones, they worked as usual, then i pushed the connector back into place while the jack was still inside. This stopped the connection of the headphones. So i guess the connectors are fine inside the jack.

I decided to remove the speaker and solder it back on the motherboard, just to be sure it was not due to rust on the old points. Still nothing.

Could it come from some capacitor or something ? :-/

Hi @caramelmou

it seems you've asked your question in the French forum (https://fr.ifixit.com/Réponses). I'd therefore recommend you to either translate it or to remove it from here and ask again in the English forum (https://www.ifixit.com/Answers).
