11" MacBook Air used as replacement screen?

OK, so I have an early 2015 MacBook Pro. The 3rd cable on the WiFi cable was damaged by a surge, and the HDMI display works fine, but the built-in display doesn’t work. And I have an 11” MacBook Air that doesn’t boot but the display may be good.

Would it be possible to swap the display of the MacBook Air and connect via the LVDI cable and get a display to work? Yes it might not fit. But would I risk damaging the Pro’s logicboard anymore or the display? Or do I need to get a like for like display to get the 2015 MacBook Pro display working again?

Sorry you can’t substitute the displays! The MacBook Air uses an older display standard (LVDS) from your MacBook Pro Retina (eDP).

Think of it like this… You can’t use diesel for a gas engined car, nor use gasoline in a diesel engined car!

Here’s a breakdown of the two standards

Thank you. I just was curious. Good to know. Just like Apple to make two identical externally looking standards that actually don’t work well together. Sometimes frankenmacs work, sometimes they don’t.
