Can the screen be upgraded on this laptop to a better quality screen?

The specifications of the motherboard will decide how good a screen can be connected to it, as it can only show what can be inputted to it from the GPU (integrated with the CPU) and the chipset etc on the motherboard

Also you may have to get the datasheet for the old panel to check if the replacement panel is compatible with the motherboard and its connections to the display. Check on the back of the panel for any information as to the make and model number of the panel and then search online for (insert display panel make and model number) schematics (or datasheet) to hopefully get the information, so that it can be compared to any possible replacement. You’ll need the datasheet for it as well.

Go to p.75 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove/replace the display panel.

On p.20 Item #3 you will find the HP spare part number for the panel (689690-001).

When I searched online using the part number only, I found this supplier who has two panels, one glossy and the other matte that should be compatible with the laptop. This doesn’t mean that they are any better than what you have already though. There may be other suppliers that suit you better if you decide just to replace the screen using the part number as a guide
