My display appears to be working and it seems like everything on the computer is properly however the screen is not illuminating at all. I can only faintly see it at an angle.

Sounds like your inverter has failed or the cables to it. Move the screen up and down and see if it comes on. Take a look at this guide to see what you need to do: MacBook Core 2 Duo LCD & Inverter A1181 (fast method) Replacement
