How to use the Spudger's notch?

Hello. Didn’t find any other way of asking a question about this product, so i ended up posting it here, hope you don’t mind.

I just got a “plastic“ spudger and was wondering what is the notch near the flat end used for? Only thing i could find online was that it’s for wire hooking. Seems like nothing i have ever seen demonstrated or even mentioned, product’s description isn’t helpful either. Can someone please clarify this “eastern egg“ for me with a practical example? Just curious for knowledge.

Hi @em0_tion ,

I think that the notch is there to hold wires when soldering them in.

I haven’t seen it done but suspect maybe it is if you don’t want to use metal pliers etc to hold the wire in position whilst soldering it, especially if it were on ESD sensitive component connections with small and close connections.

You can loop the wire in the notch and then hold the end of the wire down with the end of the spudger.

Just what I think anyway ;-)

That's a good guess. I wish there was a way to receive an answer from the guy that actually designed the tool with a specific intention in mind. Such a mindsore xD
