vertical single pixel lines appearing on screen
So, can the screen be repaired or must it be replaced?

you probably need to replace the LCD display, it's difficult to repair the LCD driver IC chips that are likely the culprit - see my answer to similar question here or other questions tagged with lines on screen
it's possible the graphics controller may be faulty, or perhaps display cable, but usually defective lines that never change position are most likely in the display itself (try changing display resolution to see if the lines move, if they do it could be the gfx chip - otherwise it's the LCD)

OK, changing resolution did not affect them. So, there must be circuitry in the LCD that can be fixed. Even though it may be factory work, I wonder what it is. I had a screen to practice on! ;-)
