CPU Upgrade Heat/Power also boot camp doesen't work on 64 bit windows

Hello, I know that it’s been already said that the most powerful CPU for this iMac is the Core 2 Duo t7600 with 2.33 ghz but there are some people saying that you could upgrade to the most powerful for that socket wich is the 2.4 ghz one but I don’t wanna overload the power supply or go over the TDP raccomended (34/35 watts).

My iMac it’s a 17 inch 2.0 ghz Core 2 Duo from late 2006 with 3 Gb of RAM and 500gb ssd

I was thinking of a CPU upgrade bcz I use it kind of a lot on windows 10 and it’s not very happy or fast also I wanna to know how I can Install windows 10 64 BIT and not the almost unsupported 32bit version since it’s a 64 bit Mac and not 32. The problem is that when I insert the windows 7 disc with 64 bit its just stuck and I get the message that I have to select 2 bootable discs but the keyboard it’s also freeze so the only way its to install 32 bit and get unsupported to almost evrything in windows.

Last question is there any drivers for my ati 1600X bcz they don’t seem to exist even on windows XP or Vista or 7.

Sorry if I been to long on writing but I have some questions and I need some answers.

Well bye and I hope that someone could help me.

I’m so sorry, your system is not able to run 64bit OS’s the systems firmware is stuck at 32bit. This limits you to OS-X Lion (10.7.5) as well as 32bit Windows 10.

Apps have moved on! 64bit is what is used in current application builds. So while older apps will work nothing newer will.

So with that said… I don’t see any benefit upgrading your system’s CPU, besides the gain of performance is not that much. Maxing the RAM to 3 GB and upgrading the drive to a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) SSD is about all you can do.

Maybe it’s time to look at a newer used system which can support newer 64bit OS’s and Apps.
