replacement battery with higher capacity

Hello,

My iPhone7 battery (1960 mAh) is degrading for sure. I know this is a weak point for this iPhone model, which doesn’t hold its charge for more than 8 hours (and sometimes less, depending on the use of the device).

I’ve seen many offers for super-charged batteries (up to 2600mAh) that are supposed to fit this iPhone 7 model, but I’ve been told not to go this way.

High capacity batteries, with the same form factor as the genuine one, are built with characteristics that lower insulation and safety between battery cells, making them much prone to electrical incidents.

Is this warning true ?

If high capacity batteries are to be avoided, another solution would be to rely on on an external extra battery built as a shell for iPhone.

Are there any recommendation for such external battery shells that could provide extra power to the iPhone ?

Many thanks in advance for advice and pointers.

Hi @jolejeune my name is Jesse. I own a repair shop in Florida and use high capacity batteries than what the OEM offers. If you look at the batteries side by side, the higher capacity one is physically larger and they still have proper power management systems built in to monitor status like voltage, cycle count, and even battery temperature. Going back to what I said about their physical size, although they are larger, there’s still plenty of room around the battery so it is not making contact with components like the frame or the board which could potentially cause a short. I’ve been using these batteries for close to a year now and haven’t had a single issue and my customers absolutely love them. I’ll attach a picture of two iPhone 6S batteries side by side for context. The one on the left being an OEM I replaced and the one on the right being the aftermarket from my supplier.
