Battery percentage dropping from 70% down to 7%

Hello!

I’m having new problem, I installed the battery 1 year ago and it was working just fine, now this problem started up 2 days ago.

Nothing different in the usage. If I charge the battery today to 100% it will run normally until it reach 85%, after that it will drop to 7% immediately…

I’m not in the US so I’m wonder if the batteries are just cheap like that (only for 1 year) or if someone else had the same issue I had?

Thank you,

UPDATE #1

Thanks for the comment, I already had another software to review the numbers of the battery. I just bought another one to replace this one and see what happens. I will also have to replace the speakers.

I did the power reset but it’s the same. Here’re the numbers, please let me know if you see an issue.

Let’s get a better view of things, install this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Ajout d'images à une question existante

@minorsolis - I do find CoconutBattery is better to diagnose issues as it offers more info than your BatteryMonitor app does, Besides the free demo version is all we need. Please post it

OK, let's get a bit more info. What is the color of the MagSafe chargers LED? Amber, Green or not lit.

I fear your charger is not working properly or the charging logic is failing.

Well, the good news is you changing logic is working! Your battery is just bad. Given its age it was likely bad from the start. iFixit offers a year warranty do you still have your paperwork to see if you can get a free replacement. I would try that first contacting iFixit Customer Support

Just like tomatoes you can get a bad one in the bag.

If you download Coconut Battery you can find out more about the health of the battery: https://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutb...

You can also try resetting the power management, Google for “reset pmu” to find how.

@paddymacman - We try to post diagnostic steps as a comment as its not really an answer. As you can see I had already posted the same thing ;-}

Resetting SMC or PRAM (NVRAM) won't help here.

Apologies to Dan for ‘double’ posting. That was of course unintentional. The link I get does not appear to take me to a location where it is easy to see previous posts on the topic—especially on iPhone with its limited view.

I’ll think I’ll cease being part of the forums as Dan has more experience and I’m not managing to get it right, almost every time.

Best wishes

Guy

@paddymacman - We want people involved! Learning is part of it! Dust your self off and try again.

Just take the time to see what's been posted already. If I hadn't already answered your direction was right on target!
