Solid red light on console

Yesterday when we turn it on, it would turn off until a bit warm but today when we turned the Xbox on it is a solid red light. We removed the hard drive and inserted a memory card but that doesn't work, we took the Xbox apart and did a full clean and it still doing the same, removed the cables and put everything back but that is also not working. I have been living on google the whole day. Anyone got some advice that I have not tried yet?

Solution retenue

We know you get a red light on the console itself, what color is the light on the power brick? If it is red it is likely defective. If the power brick checks out okay, see if you can get a secondary error code out of the console. You should be able to do this by holding the controller sync button and then hitting the eject button. You can do this 4 times to get 4 numbers. One light illuminated is a 1, two lights is 2, 3 lights is 3, and 4 lights is 0.

Hi Ben, I never knew the model 1439 gave error codes but the brick is yellow and when I tried the sync button with eject button, the control had 4 green lights flash and still red on the console but I don't know if I did it right ?‍♀️?‍♀️

@nikki24 Keep hitting that eject and sync combo until it goes back to just the red light. Should be 4 presses to get to the last light combination and the 5th should return to just the red dot. Each press will reveal a light combination. Let me know how many lights are illuminated after each press, should be between 1 and 4 each time.

0003 is what I got. I have zero clue what it means!

@armorben please tell me it is something small that can be easily repaired and won't cost more than buying a ps4 or a new Xbox!

@nikki24 Unfortunately that error is not good. 0003 (also known as E03) indicates that the APU in the console is not receiving power. It could be a bad mosfet or a cold solder joint under the APU, this was more common on the original models but still happened on the earlier S model consoles. Either way replacing it would likely be cheaper than fixing it. Sorry to give you the bad news.
