My extendable umbrella won't stay open, and stuck in extended position
When you try to push it back into compact position, it springs back up.. also when you try to push up into open umbrella position, it springs back down.

Where the sliding part is on the shift, there normally is a slit there that has a tab the pops into it to lock it into place. When you want to open it, you'd push that tab. Same with closing. Does that slot appear damaged? I don't know whatnkind you have so going off generic umbrellas I've seen and used
