MBP wont switch on - no chime - front light briefly on

Symptoms:

Screen flashed, then died.

Now it wont start.

When I switch it on, HD spins up, DVD checks itself, front light goes on but screen stays blank and no chime.

Then a second later, everything dies, HD clicks off, front light off.

Checked for sounds by removing the RAM and switching on, seems to beep on a constant rythm. So Firmware is fine.

Tell me more about this beeping and it being fine please. Beeping is not fine, what is the pattern of the beeps?

The beep goes: beeep, silence for 3 seconds, beeep, then silence for 3 seconds, etc.

I read in another thread that beeping sounds indicates an intact firmware chip, so thats something.

the power doesnt stay on so baking the bga is going to be a tricky affair. Do you think this a route that i should follow?
