No. hp pavilion 15z-eh000 laptop has no room for hdd but it can however can be upgraded with nvme ssd but it has only one slot so you might have to backup everything you have on you’re laptop, upgrade it and back it up again which will leave you with typical nvme ssd that has no purpose which you could sell it online and other thing you can upgrade is ram but you can only upgrade one slot of the laptop so you either gonna stuck with 12gb or 20gb of ram which won’t be running on dual channel so it would be slower but again runnable I guess

That sucks. I hate the fact that they've started using SSD thinking a small hard drive would be enough. I have a TB drive from my old laptop. I almost want to get it up and running and shelf this one because of my things on that HDD.

I recently purchased a 15z-eh100 15.6" HP pavilion 2021 touch screen, backlit keyboard, Ryzen 5 5500U 1TB nvme m.2 SSD (WD Blue-up to 2600mbps, L550 model is what Newegg adds or that's what I got anyway after upgrading mine when I ordered it, the slower WD blue too. WD Blue makes one that's same exact price thats rated at 3600 mbps lol.) That info isn't provided upon order just what size SSD and what size ram.. I paid 1k ordered off Newegg I could have maxed out at 64gb ddr4 3200mhz but I decided on 32GB ram. I see you say 15z-eh000 maybe due to different model they're different but mine has 32gb ddr4 3200mhz ram. This is the ONLY post on the internet about having HDD+SSD on 15z pavilion. I already had a WD HDD 2.5" 1TB ready to go in and I came across this post before I attempted to install the HDD. I prefer having OS on SSD and /home on HDD because it sure makes the SSD last MUCH longer due to less writes on it.. I have not opened mine up yet because I read this. Appreciate this info! ✌️

Edited.

Daniel, did you manage to make the HDD work in your laptop?

Hi,

Looking at the maintenance and service guide for the model series, it seems that there is only one HDD connector on the motherboard.

If you wish to add extra storage, an option to consider is to insert the largest capacity SD card that you want, into the card reader slot (left side of laptop) and leave it there. Configure it as the storage drive i.e. point all your data folders towards it and leave the HDD as the OS and Program drive. That way if ever the laptop fails you have easy access to all your data. Simply remove the card, no need to open the laptop. There is a downside that anyone can take the card out, but they have to know that it is there. Just a thought.

Dang, so there's no use in cracking open the case? I did contact a tech thru HP tech support and they said I could add an HDD. He recommended I have a professional do it. I don't know? It would suck if I couldn't add an HDD. I do like the idea of an SD card. In fact, there could be a games SD card with games installed, etc., etc.

@shawncbranch

The manual is for the model series and not your exact model although I think that the only difference would be the specific hardware used for each particular model variant e.g. CPU, amount of ram, type of SSD etc

I looked online at images of motherboards for your exact model variant and I couldn't see any more appropriate slots for an SSD, there was only the one.
