Keyboard and Touchpad functionality completely gone

My MacBook has recently stopped responding to any inputs from the keyboard or touchbar. I got it to boot into recovery mode once, but it won't do it anymore. I have also tried using an external USB keyboard with success for about 2 minutes before it stopped working as well. I can't get passed the login in screen anymore, and the backlight on the keyboard hasn't turned on either. The touchpad is completely functional, and the computer does respond to mouse inputs. I was just traveling in about 90 degree weather with a high humidity, could that have had an affect? I contacted apple, and they suggested I send the laptop in for repairs immediately. Thanks for the help.

@thermalflame - Did your system have a liquid spill as some point?

@danj Maybe about 2 weeks ago, but it wasn’t for more than about 10 seconds and I immediately flipped the laptop over and dryed it off. It’s worked fine for the whole time in between until now

Sadly, it doesn't take much to sneak in to make a mess! While we always think water is pure and when it evaporates it doesn't leave any traces that's far from the Truth! Water is the universal solvent! As such it is able to hold within it lots of stuff! From fats, acids, sugars and salts. All of these can cause corrosion and damage.

For now I would not run your system and don't charge it either as the power running on the logic board can cause even more damage from electrolysis or shorting out components!

Time to get your system to someone with the needed deeper skills to repair your system. This could be costly depending what's damaged.
