Can I seal a broken back glass on an iPhone with Epoxy/Resin?

My iPhone 11 recently cracked only on the back glass. It’s no big deal with a case, but I want to retain the structure of the phone. The back glass is covered in hairline cracks (no chunks of glass gone). I understand that sealing glass with Epoxy won’t fix the look of the cracks. My goal with this idea is to smooth out the back glass of the phone and give it better structural integrity/weatherproofing. Do you guys think this is a good cheap repair, or would the epoxy/resin/windshield repair kit damage the components of the iPhone? If this a good idea, how would I best perform the procedure? Many thanks!

So did you do it?? The back of my iPhone XS Max has a bunch of tiny cracks in it and I was thinking about using epoxy resin on it. No one seemed to answer your actual question.

have the back glass replaced, it doesnt cost the earth these days. most techs use cold press glue to seal the replacement back glass now which will help with water resistance

Replacement back glass aren't properly sealed at all, most repair shops omit the water resistance adhesive entirely.

@tomchai it depends on the adhesive used and i said will help with water resistance

@tech_ni No, it depends on how the workshop apply it. The original factory applies a loop of adhesive around the frame perimeter, almost none of any workshops apply adhesive like that, which guarantees a leaky back.

‘Most’ of the techs do apply the adhesive exactly the same as Apple do. I do and others I know too. The adhesive we use is water and moisture resistant but we do not give a waterproof guarantee as water can enter elsewhere not just the back.

@strongbow interesting, how do you deal with the camera and microphone then? I have yet to see anyone apply adhesive properly, not to mention passing pressure tests.

Glue the whole back side over and add a loop of adhesive at the seam for insurance. Replacement back glass WILL NOT retain water resistance.
