Dishwasher not draining after replacing pump

I have a Kenmore Ultra Wash Model 665.17359301. The first time that we used it after purchasing the house it failed to drain at the end of the cycle. It was apparent that it had been used by the previous owner and so I assumed that it was clogged etc. which it was. I blew out the main drain line to get the water flowing and the water did move freely through this line and the line that runs up the side of the dishwasher and also checked the port into the garbage disposal. However, when the pump runs at the end of the cycle or after canceling the cycle it barely moves any water--though some does pump out. I even added food coloring to the water to make it easier to see the water moving and it does move some water out. I have done all the frequently suggested things of checking the dishwasher connection, taking all the internal parts out to access the food grinder and check valve next to the food grinder and though I found some typical debris, that didn't resolve the issue. I finally concluded that the pump must not be pumping with enough pressure and replaced that with a new part from Sears but it still had the same symptoms. I also ran the pump with the door open after removing all the internal covers and you see quite a bit of back flow through the drain port to the right of the food grinder when I would expect a downward current as the water is pulled out.
