Vizio M55-C2 - Will not turn on

M55-C2 Vizio TV, serial LWZASBAR variant.

Issue: Was playing a game and half the screen went to static. I turned off the tv to power cycle and was unable to turn it back on. The power light comes on, but nothing shows on the screen.

Have tried:

  • Unplugging and plugging back in
  • Holding power button for 15 seconds
  • Using remote/power button to turn on the tv
  • Unplugging for 30 seconds, while also holding the power button during the time

Which part of the TV should I look at replacing?

OK, so I had to figure it out myself. I replaced this part:

VIZIO M55-C2 MAIN BOARD 748.01208.0011 / 755.01201.0001 "SERIAL#: LWZASBAR"

After putting it in, everything worked just fine.

I can't believe this Joshua Spradlin -- our TV of the same model had exactly your symptoms last night. My wife and I joked that there may be a self destruct mechanism timed to go off 7 years just before each Black Friday. We got ours 7 years ago at just this time of year.

Aside from any conspiracies, I'm going to try the fix too, but I have essentially zero abilities with reading volts and circuitry. Does the job require any soldering or anything?

You happen to snap any pictures of your repair process?

paul waggoner replacing the boards is straight forward. Unplug the TV, remove the back cover, unplug the connectors from the board. Unscrew the board and replace with new board. No soldering and only requirements are regular hand tools like screwdriver etc. Nothing special. This video should help

Joshua Spradlin "The power light comes on, but nothing shows on the screen." you did not tell us if you get any kind of audio. Check with a flashlight in a darkened room if you can make out anything on the screen. It is possible that this is a main or T-Con board issue. You would have to remove teh back cover from your TV and take a look at the board. Measure the voltages from the power board to the main board and let us know what you get. Post some good pictures of your boards with your QUESTION so that we can see what you see. Adding images to an existing question - iFixit Repair Guide

I am not getting audio or any video. Completely nothing coming in.

I'll have to wait to open it up tomorrow at this point, but I'll get that info.

I did the standby voltage test on the first pin of the power board and got the 5v like it stated I should. I have added the picture above.
