My Sony bravia KD-49XF8505 will no longer boot up

I have a Sony Bravia KD-49XF8505 that no longer wants to boot up.

While booting up the TV, my father pressed the mute button (sound), then the TV suddenly showed lines for a moment, then completely shut down. After this incident, we have not been able to turn on the TV, also the light at the bottom of the TV does not turn on anymore.

I checked the adapter and it shows the "normal" voltage, as written on the back of the adapter.

In addition to testing the adapter, I also plugged my cell phone into the usb port on the mainboard, and it appears to be providing power, as I can charge my cell phone with it.

I also checked to see if any capacitors had blown by chance, but I don't see anything about that right away.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I have already turned the TV completely off and on several times. Also pressed the power button several times when it is not connected to the wall outlet.

I myself am a software development student, so I have practically no understanding of this.

My native language is not English, so sorry for the possible typos

  • Here are a few pictures of capacitors that I don't know if they are still any good (the first 2 images are the same capacitor)

@landervanlaer just to make sure I understand you correctly. The Power LED does not turn on. Your TV shows "no sign of life"? Post another good picture of the part of the board where your power adapter connects to. There should be a fuse around the connector.

@oldturkey03 Yup, draws power (bcs usb port works), but no sign of life

par

@landervanlaer checked for a fuse? They are usually labelled with the letter "F" followed by however many digits.

par

@oldturkey03 I have uploaded an image in COMMENTS section on the "question". I also added some pictures of some capacitors

par

@landervanlaer caps look okay. You got power going to the fuse. Power plugged in. meter to VDC and Red probe to right contact, Black probe to ground? Got proper voltage? Now do the same with the opposite contact on the fuse.

Ok this worked for me: I connected both ends of the fuse to a multimeter set on DC Voltage. And it works out of the blue back completely.

So in my opinion, the fuse is dead

The TV ended up not working again, and this way also didn't make it possible anymore

Press and hold the Power button and Volume Down (-) buttons on the TV (not the remote), and while holding the buttons, plug the power cord back in. Continue to hold the buttons down until a green LED light appears near the Sony logo on the TV front. Honestly i read your problem and i copy pasted to google this is what i found.
