blink 5 times on power on - no image

Hi, I'm trying to fix my tv UE46EH6030,

He blink 6 times and the screen keep black.

I opened the tv, all the condensators and diodes are ok. But... I have no power on the led connector.

When I use the remote control, the led goes on and off (this part is correctly powered), and when the tv is "on", I measure 200v on the MKP condensator near the led strip connector, but nothing on the connector itself (even with led strip unplugged).

I can't find broken IC or condensator

Any idea ?

Hello, so, actually the symptoms are :

  • When I plug the power (main board + backlight connected) => The red led blink, but I can toggle the led with the remote control. Backlight do not power on. ( mainboard seems to be correctly powered )
  • When I plug the power (main board disconnected + backlight connected) => the backlight do not power on

What I troubleshooted:

  • All the CAPS & Diodes on the mainboard (good shape, and tested with multimeter).
  • With MB + Backlight connected, when the TV is standby (red led ON) : the purple part (see picture) is not powered.
  • With MB + Backlight connected, when the TV is "on" (red led OFF) : the purple part is powered (185V on cap's) but no voltage on the backlight connector (top white connector).

I didn't test the led strip themself, ... but as I have no voltage on the connector, the led are probably not the root cause ( wrong ?)

To investigate further, I need a schematic of the board. What can be the issue ? a kind of pwm transistor / mosfet dead ? ... how can I investigate this. The board is a BN44-00552a ( common on Samsung XXEH-6030 models; from 40 ; 46 inches ) and not so easy to find for a decent price ... (almost the price of a similar TV ...)

This is the other side of the backlight power part of the powerboard. I can't read the partnumbers and without schematics, I can't troubleshoot this :-(

Thanks.

@feeling first check CY8925 on your board. It looks like there is something not quite right. Could just be my old eyes but post a closer picture of that. All you would have to do is to disconnect the main board from the power board. That should turn the backlights on. Let us know if that works. After that you want to measure connector CM803 on your power board and check the voltages compared to the values marked on the board. Since there are components on either side, we'll need to see both sides of both boards This sound like your main board is not sending the signal to turn the backlight on etc.

I have replaced the CY8925 by another condensator : Same issue. I have replaced the original 80uF 450V back ... he's in perfect condition (tested on my multimeter). CY8925 is not the problem ;-) I'll check to disconnect the mainboard tomorrow. Thanks.

@feeling1 so did it need replacing, was it blown? If so, why did it blow is the question to decide. It will also show that the issue here is the power board.

I tried to plug the power with backlight connected and main board disconnected. Nothing happens (no backlight).

Cy8925 is tested and show 85uF, ... Non-issue here.

@feeling1 if everything else is connected and you disconnected the main board and the backlight did not come on, it's the power board. You did test the backlight strips properly correct? Just to verify. If this were me, I'd replace the power supply first :-)
