I changed my battery and the battery was draining fast so I got a warranty replacement and put it in my phone... The issue was when I was taking the screen off the adhesive strip got stuck on the ribbon cables for the screen and ended up tearing the black metallic film on the back of the screen!!! I thought nothing of it assuming it is just a ground plain and swapped the battery and turned on the phone. When I did I noticed my touch was not working at all. When I opened up the phone and took off the connectors and checked them all I noticed a very thin and tiny round piece of plastic it was orange and looked like kapton tape in-between the touch connectors. I thought this was the only issue so I removed it and put eye back together and it still was not functioning!!! Please help I have included macro pictures of the connectors.

PS I followed the iFIXIT tutorial but yes I did. My issue was that the battery I bought from iFIXIT was not making a proper connection and the phone would reboot randomly. So I was changing the battery

Second pic I'd check those 2 components below the connector haven't been knocked loose

par

@strongbow I checked that and they look like there are there is just the coating that is missing

par

Did you try nudging them to see if they move? Definitely need some sort of magnification to check.

Can you show the part of the “film” that you tore? And, I just want to confirm, you disconnected the battery before messing with the display’s ribbon cables, correct? During reassembly, it’s crucial that the battery is the last component attached as well…

@princeunicorn I added the answer and more pictures, hopefully it helps

Thank you for providing the pictures! It was very helpful.

Unfortunately, in this case, you will have to replace the display. The sensor right next to the tear is the OLED Display Sensor. It uses the film on the back of the display to help detect and process your touch input and then it relays that information to the motherboard. The film being damaged, likely also damaged the sensor and will require a full display replacement as a result.

Of course! Let me know if you need suggestions on where to get a quality screen.

par

@princeunicorn I would love to know where I can get a decent screen without paying to much as I'm disabled and have no income unfortunately

par

I’m sorry to hear about your income situation. I have bought around 15 displays from this seller and have been thoroughly impressed by the quality every time (plus the iPhone x’s display is only $22.78!!)
