Hi econtras,

In modern car engines there are a lot of reasons why the motor will die when you try to accelerate so we can't just give you a random answer that is guaranteed to be the problem. We need some clues as to where to start.

The best source of those clues is the engine computer itself. If there are faults in the engine control electronics, most of the time the computer will know about them and it actually has a way to tell you about them. First off, is the "Check Engine", aka Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) on? If so, that says the computer has a problem it wants to tell you about.

You'll need a tool that's called an OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostics) scanner. It hooks up to a plug in the passenger compartment on the driver's side and reads out the Diagnostic Trouble Codes, or DTCs. You can buy a bluetooth version that hooks up to a (free) downloadable app on your phone for under $10 USD, or at least here in the US you can go to any auto parts store and they will scan your codes for you for free.

Once you have a list of code(s) your car is reporting, come back and add that information to your post and we'll see if we can help you figure out what's wrong with your car.
