I have a 2006 Chevy Colorado Z71. when truck heats up oil light comes on and beeps I have had oil change and new oil filter now there can only be three things wrong oil sending unit oil pump could be bad or Barron's it runs fine no oil light on till it heats up I hear a sound not bad but can hear it I'm tired of people using the guessing game on it.

@deboraheberry61 you could also have worn crank/camshaft bearings etc.. Which would lead to "internal oil leak. Anyhow, I would check the oil sensor. Replace it for now with a manual pressure gauge and see what your oil pressure really is. That would rule out a bad sensor. Yes, it could be the oil pump, but you would always have lower pressures (hot or cold, but only low enough to trip the light when it is hot). Again, check your pressures with a different gauge. You could most certainly try a heavier oil and see if that makes a difference. Ultimately, A guessing game until you have a gauge on there to read the pressures.

Ditto on @oldturkey03's admonition to measure the actual oil pressure. Oil gets thinner as it heats up, and it definitely sounds like your pressure is low enough to trip the oil light once the car warms up and the oil thins out. If your pressure is low you'll want to know that since it can lead to major engine problems if you're not getting sufficient oil flow through the motor.
All the above, and if you can hear a sound you can locate it with a stethoscope (or a super-long screwdriver against the back of your jaw) and very likely find the source of the oil pressure loss.
