What Drive Imaging Software for Techs do you recommend?

I typically use Linux to copy off files from Windows systems before I do a fresh install. Then afterwards copy the users data back onto the fresh system.

I was wondering, after extensive search, if someone knows of a (preferablly Linux) livecd or utility that will let you create an image file of the drive but also lets you mount and copy individual files and folders back from the image to another system?

An added bonus would be a livecd utility that creates the image, but, also a windows utility that would let you mount the image and copy individual files.

I use Acronis True Image Home, I don't think it will tick all your categories but it should perform most tasks you require. If you take a look at the link below this will describe all the features, you can expand the features also to see what else it can do.

I'm just wondering if I buy the home version, if I can boot from the LiveCD to image drives from various systems my customers bring in. Or, if it will restrict you to one system?

The licence allows you to burn as many bootable Acronis media disks as you like, USB or CD. These act as a type of LiveCD to allow you to select which image you wish to deploy on the drive, using USB or over a network. the single user licence is for the main software that is used to create these discs. you will never need to enter any licence keys on any laptops you are using this on provided you do not install the software.
