If your Mac mini connected to an HP M22F monitor via HDMI is displaying a pink desktop when the screen wakes up after the system wakes up, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Check the cable and connections: Ensure that the HDMI cable is securely plugged in at both ends (Mac mini and monitor). Try using a different HDMI cable to rule out any issues with the current cable. Additionally, make sure there are no bent pins or damage to the HDMI ports on either the Mac mini or the monitor.

2. Update macOS and monitor firmware: Ensure that your Mac mini is running the latest version of macOS. Check for any available software updates by going to the Apple menu > System Preferences > Software Update. Additionally, check the HP website for any firmware updates for your specific monitor model. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.

3. Adjust display settings: Open System Preferences on your Mac mini and go to the Displays preferences. Check the resolution and color profile settings for the external monitor. Try changing the resolution to a different setting or selecting a different color profile to see if it resolves the pink display issue.

4. Reset NVRAM and SMC: Resetting the NVRAM (non-volatile random-access memory) and SMC (System Management Controller) on your Mac mini can help resolve various display-related issues. Here's how to reset them:

- Reset NVRAM: Shut down your Mac mini, then turn it on and immediately press and hold the Option + Command + P + R keys simultaneously. Keep holding the keys until you hear the startup sound for the second time, then release them.

- Reset SMC: Shut down your Mac mini, disconnect the power cord, and wait for about 15 seconds. Reconnect the power cord, then wait for another 5 seconds. Finally, turn on your Mac mini.

5. Try a different HDMI port or adapter: If your Mac mini has multiple HDMI ports, try connecting the monitor to a different HDMI port. Alternatively, if your Mac mini has other display ports (such as DisplayPort or Thunderbolt), you can try using a compatible adapter to connect the monitor through a different port.

6. Test the monitor with a different device: Connect the HP M22F monitor to a different device, such as a laptop or game console, using the same HDMI cable. If the pink display issue persists with another device, it suggests a potential problem with the monitor itself. In such cases, it's recommended to contact HP customer support for further assistance or consider a different monitor model.

If none of these steps resolve the pink display issue, it's advised to reach out to Apple Support or an authorized service provider for further guidance. They can provide specific troubleshooting steps or recommend appropriate solutions based on your Mac mini's model and configuration.

I have tried what you suggest with out success, when the monitor goes pink I normally turn it off and on which resets it, I did this today and the monitor went to a bright yellow boot screen, got half way through booting and then returned to my normal desktop,
