I replaced the battery in iPhone 3GS and still does not work?
I received an Iphone 3gs second hand and was using for about a month. I went to turn it on one morning and nothing would happen. I plugged in to charge and it became very warm to the touch. I thought it might be the battery so I bought a new battery from i fix it and installed using their step-by-step guides. After I had the battery installed and was putting the phone back together the phone became very warm again. I tried to turn on - nothing. I tried to charge - still nothing. Any ideas what is wrong with it?

Extreme (or sudden) warmth from these phones, especially when not under heavy operational load, typically indicates a short somewhere. Can you try running the phone w/o the back on and see if you can identify where the heat is coming from.

pretty tricky to do that on an iphone..take a good look at how to get the battery out and you'll see what I mean. The back holds the battery to the motherboard via a single screw, the screen is secured in place by 2 screws through the bezel..it'd be a real juggling act. It'd make more sense to do this without the screen on... as all the components are on the top of the board.

Thanks for your responses. The heat just occurred for a short time when I connected the new battery. Now nothing will turn on or happen with the device. So I am not sure how I can identify where it is coming from if I can not get the phone to run.
