tool kit recommendation for MacBook Pro/Air

I am considering buying a tool kit so that I have the necessary tools to repair any parts (including more difficulty to replace parts such as screens and keyboards) of Macbook Pro/Air?

The target will be the following laptops. I may also expand to other Pro/Air models.

  • Macbook Pro 15” mid-2012
  • Macbook Pro Retina 15” mid-2015
  • Macbook Pro Retina 16” mid-2019
  • Macbook Air 13 mid-2017

It seems the Pro Tech Toolkit is quite comprehensive. But I am wondering whether it is too comprehensive so that it may include some tools that I don’t need for Macbook Pro/Air.

I also see customers frequently buy the following two products with the Pro Kit. But their purposes seem to be redundant to a certain extent, as they both are for sorting small parts like screws. So it seems to me only one is needed.

Anti-Static Project Tray

FixMat

I also need to clean the dust inside the laptops and clean the screens and the chassis.

I also may need to change the Thermal paste.

How can I find out what took kit is the most appropriate for the above goal (but not include too many unnecessary tools)?

This is a bit tricky! Yes, you can buy the straight drivers needed as well as the other sundry items but in the long haul given the creation of the long shopping list I would just stick with one of the tool kits that has what you need. The pro kit has what I would say the most complete, going with the Minnow Driver Kit will force you to get the picks and cards, tray and antiStatic strap and mat separately.

The mat is an antistatic work surface (flat) the tray offers a compartmentalized tray.

I personally would go with the Pro toolkit as you may find even the other less used bits will come in handy fixing other stuff!

Here’s the straight drivers Marlin Screwdriver Set - 5 Specialty Precision Screwdrivers and Marlin Screwdriver Set - 5 Standard Precision Screwdrivers and you will also need the other tools the Pro kit offers that is needed.
