New battery won't take charge

Hello,

I recently replaced the battery on my 5th generation iPod. The install was successful, but the battery won't accept a charge. I've tried multiple adapters and have taken it apart several times to see if anything looks out of place visually, but nothing stands out. There seems to be some type of connection because the screen lights up when disconnecting the cable. Any thoughts?

@nathanbutk92911 could be a few things. First off, it might be teh battery. Just because it is new to you does not mean it's a new one. Keep one thing in mind. The battery connector on this model is an absolute Achilles Heel. It has such a bad tendency of breaking of the board. Take a look at this question about what that looks like The Brown connector broken..

If the connector is okay, connect your iPad to a wall charger instead of a computer. Sometimes the extra available amperage helps to wake the battery up. An iPhone or iPad wall charger will be perfect but any other USB "brick" will work, for as long a it has no more than 5V.

Try a different charging/sync cable and double check the dock connector (bottom of the iPod where the cable connects too. Check for corrosion, debris and bend/broken pins.

Let us know what you find out.

Thanks, @oldturkey03. I checked out the link to the previous post. Before taking too much more apart, I did double check all my connections again and plugged into a samsung adapter I had laying around before snapping the case back together. I noticed that the iPod fires up and indicates charging, but when I cycle power (still plugged in) the lighting bolt is no longer shown in the battery status indicator. It's worth mentioning also that there's no charging indicator displayed when the iPod is off and plugged in. It's been a real long while since I've used this, but I believe I recall there being an indicator when shut down?
