Flashing Apple Icon after Installing New LCD Screen

I just installed a new LCD screen on my ipod touch 2g. Once I plugged it in my computer, I get the flashing apple icon. When I unplug it, it seems like the ipod has died. I have read many places that restoring it should fix the issue, but my sleep button hasn't functioned properly for some time, sometimes I can get it to work and sometimes I cant. Also ever since I installed the new LCD screen, my computer or itunes doesn't recognize the ipod when I plug it in. I am getting frustrated.

Try taking it apart again, and with the new display connected, disconnect and reconnect the battery.

I assume you need melt the solder or does it unplug where the ribbon meets the battery?

You get the flashing apple icon when the battery is really low....Charge the battery and take a look after 1-2 hours.

You should fix your sleep button, unscrew it, there is a little metal pad under the sleep button, just replace it in the center with glue and it's done.

It hard fix an ipod without sleep and home button.

charging the battery for two didn't do anything. I just received a new digitizer with the new home button and replaced my sleep and volume buttons also, but the flashing began when i put in the new LCD and then the other part where installed a couple days later. i am stumped at this point.

For disconnecting the battery, you have to desolder the connection on the logic board. Take care, don<t remove the 3 solder pads. Use hot solder iron, lot of flux and solder wick.

If you bought a broken ipod, take a look if you have a missing pad. That can cause the problem.

Take a look on youtube, how desolder an ipod battery.

Thanks I will give that check out the video. The ipod is mine. Not realizing it fell on the floor, I accidentally stepped on it while wearing boots and broke the digitizer and messed up the lcd screen.
