Screen speckled red all over then turned black screen, how to fix?

Whilst playing for 30 minutes the screen started speckling red dots all over the image. Then to the point the image was majority red. Then cutting the image off to black screen and turning the console off.

The consol3 won't show up with an image on the screen but turns on and the controller still takes action in the background.

Tried new cable nothing.

Turned off the power and left for 1hr. Tried the device again. And still failed to work. Any ideas whats going on and is this an insurance job or an easy fix what?

Hi!

Well this just sound like the GPU which is dying.

If you still have any warranty on it, please bring it back and get yourself a new one.

It's not easy to fix this. You can either try to reflow it or replace it for another one (and re-ball it). Or you can bring it to a repair shop to let them fix it for you (if you don't have any solder experience).

Hi I've been having a similar issue with my Xbox. I've been trying to figure this out for months. I've never reflowed a gpu; let alone even heard about it but I do have practice with soldering so I'm not afraid to try. I'm sure it's the gpu/apu failing. My screen has red and green dots and also there are random glitches in certain part of the screen. Do you think you could help me with this I'm trying to avoid having Microsoft fix it because I no longer have warranty.

Hi Kalen!

I can’t help you personally with the repairs… Sorry! But I can give advice and help you troubleshooting. Reflowing the GPU should not be too difficult. Guide: Lumière jaune de la mort (I know this is for a PS3, but just only focus on the reflow process).

Reballing or replacing the GPU is difficult and you do need special tools to accomplish this. Please let us know how it goes! Hopefully you will get it fixed again!
