Powerbeats 3 blinking blue and red only when plugged in

Powerbeats 3 will not hold a charge or connect to bluetooth disconnected. When connected to power they blink blue and red, but still don't connect to bluetooth. I am hoping to repair them, but am unsure if they need more than a new battery. Thanks!
