iMac Intel 21,5” EMC 2308, the new ram does not work

Hello I bought a new Samsumg Ram for my Imac. I put this one:

When I start up, I get the boot screen and the screen freezes when I get to the operating system. By using the old RAM, I don't have this problem.

Is the ream I bought not compatible, even though I have the same specifications as the ream sold on Ifixit?

Can you give us a picture of the RAM module labels so we can see things.

So, this model of iMac can accept 16GB of RAM, but everywhere I have checked indicates only 2 and 4GB DIMMs (RAM sticks) are supported). It also looks like these sticks are PC3L-12800S, which is both faster than the stock RAM and requires a lower voltage (PC3L vs PC3).

Although iFixit does sell RAM that meets these same specs, it doesn't have this model listed as compatible. You would need 4 modules of this RAM to hit the same 16GB with your model.

Macs are notoriously fussy about the particulars in my experience and you'll want RAM stocks that match the specs of the stock sticks as closely as possible.

Image Replace or upgrade the RAM in your desktop, laptop, or game console for faster performance. Low Profile / 204 pin / 1066 MHz

Alisha is correct, while this series can support 16GB you need to populate with 4 x 4GB RAM as the systems architecture won’t support denser modules.
