Bios issue with new hard drive.

Desktop with windows on an SSD and documents on a 1 gig HD. Went to change HD for a 2 gig. Now startup stops and states I’m missing a connection. All cables are connected, so I am looking for directions to consider.

Have you checked the boot order to ensure that the SSD is the first thing to boot?

How did you transfer the system to the 2G SSD?

How many partitions do you have on the 2G SSD?

How far does the boot get and does it define what the "connection" is? That isn't an error I have seen or heard about b4.

My go to program to image and restore a drive is Macrium Reflect free. It is discontinued but still available. It is very easy to use and you don't need the fee version.

If you have not done the transfer that way, then that would be a good place to start. It can be accomplished in under 2 hours depending on how big your system drive is.

Your setup is like mine - which IMHO, is the way all should be done.

Imaging and restoring a system drive doesn't touch your data drive or data partition if it is on the same drive. And restoring an image means you don't have to reinstall Windows and all your programs then re-configure everything. My system drive is only 500G and has 2 partitions, system and data. My HDD is used for longer term storage files.

Let me know if you need further help with that.
