Hi @richardtho73356
If the problem is only in the refrigerator compartment check if the door seals are OK and that the door is straight and parallel to the cabinet.
There are two ways that you can check if the door seals are OK.
- Place a turned on flashlight in the refrigerator compartment, and with the door closed normally, i.e. no pressure on it by you to keep it closed, check for any light escaping from the compartment. Probably best done at night with no room light on making it easier to see if light is escaping through the door.
- Place a sheet of paper, between the refrigerator compartment door jamb and the door and with the door closed normally, i.e. no pressure on it by you to keep it closed, try pulling it out. It will come out with a bit of effort but not that easily and it should definitely not fall out by itself. Do this at various places around the door, top, bottom and both sides.
Lastly, check if the refrigerator light is turned off when the door is closed, by manually operating the door switch (at the top of the door frame) when the door is open to check if the light does turn off. You could also place a mobile phone inside the compartment setup to take videos to see if it does turn off, and then close the door just in case when manually operating the door switch you apply more pressure to the switch than the door does when it is closed i.e light is off when you push the switch but not when the door does.
What is the full model number of the refrigerator?
Asking because there are 15 models having a model number beginning with GFE28GYN****, and if the seal (aka gasket) is faulty then knowing the full model number will ensure that the correct part can be found. They may be all the same part, I don't know as I haven't checked

I can't find a download for it online so check if the wiring diagram (aka mini manual) for the refrigerator is located as described in this article
If it is, great, if not order it.
It will detail the procedure for how to run the diagnostics to check various functions in the refrigerator.
As there are 3 temperature sensors in the refrigerator, it may be easier to run the diagnostics to check if they're all OK or not.
Here's a parts list that is useful.
Type sensor in the "enter a part description" search box to find the location of all the sensors.
Of particular interest would be #955 in the Case Parts diagram as this would be monitoring the refrigerator compartment.
#719 in the Fresh Food section may have a dual function of monitoring the freezer temp and also the defrost cycle temp as it is near the evaporator unit.
#153 monitors the ice maker.
FYI in the manual FF= refrigerator section FZ = Freezer sec
If the sensor is the problem, find it in the parts list and then select it to find the manufacturer's part number that is shown with it. Search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.
