The iPod Seventh Generation, marketed and sold as the "iPod Classic", was released in September 2009, and did not have any visible differences compared to the previous version. It simply replaced the previous 120GB iPod Classic 6.5 with a thin 160GB version.

My Buttons are not working ☹️

Hello everyone,

I recently bought an iPod Classic 7th gen off eBay, everything works just fine except for the clickwheel buttons and center button. It scrolls perfectly, but when I try to press the buttons to the next song or the menu, etc. It doesn’t do anything.

I have already replaced the click wheel itself, but the problem persists. What could it be?

While replacing the clickwheel I made sure that I could hear the click, and I did. Buttons click fine, but don’t actually do anything, sometimes they work if I press them ridiculously hard but sometimes not even that works.

Thing is, the button's are not directly connected to the clickwheel. The buttons are actually on the motherboard. Did you notice any black dots on the motherboard while replacing the clickwheel? Were they not in center of each button? And if your problem is directly related to the buttons themselves, then you may have to replace the motherboard as a low risk but high cost option of microsoldering. I suggest that you go to eoe.works if you do need a motherboard, I already bought a motherboard from them for my iPod Video and it works perfectly!

So, unfortunately, I am on the same page with you. It happened to me, too.
